About Us
Company Summary
Founded in 2002, Wooden Spoon is a Santa Rosa-based Information Technology firm that implements and supports computer networks and hosted services for local businesses. As our name implies, what we do is keep things simple for our clients. We manage their networks from top to bottom so that they can focus on running their business.
Our typical clients are companies that have server-based networks in one or multiple locations. While they rely heavily on technology for day-to-day operations, it’s not cost-effective for them to employ a full-time IT staff.
Nearly all of our clients rely on industry-specific software packages to run their businesses. Our specialty is creating a disaster-proof platform so that our clients can run the software applications they require and access them securely from anywhere.
We work directly with our clients’ other technology vendors to facilitate on-time and on-budget completion of projects. We have a proven track record across various industries (healthcare, legal, construction, retail, winery, and manufacturing) and are happy to provide references.
Key Team Members

|
Zach Mesel, President
Technology is in Zach’s blood. Zach spent much of his youth in his father’s cardiac research labs, either as a test subject for his father’s research, or playing games with his older brother on mainframe computers. Zach earned his BS in Management Information Systems in 1988 from the University of Arizona, and then worked for IBM in Boulder, Colorado, and Palo Alto, California until 1995. After taking a sabbatical in Spain to get his bilingual certification in Spanish, he worked for a technical translation company in Seville. He returned to California just in time for the tech collapse. He and his wife Misty moved to Santa Rosa in 2000 and started Wooden Spoon in 2002. They live in Santa Rosa with their 2 cats.

Tamar Mesel, Operations Manager
Tamar is Zach’s big sister and now Operations Manager, too. She is a 1997 graduate of Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff. While working and going to school at NAU she held multiple positions in finance, accounting, and eventually became the Technical Services Manager at the NAU Bookstore. When Zach needed help with his business, Tamar was the obvious choice due to her ability to multi-task and her technical customer service background. She worked remotely from Flagstaff for 2 years then relocated to Santa Rosa in August of 2008. Tamar recently celebrated her 4th year with the company. She lives in Santa Rosa with her daughter Maggie and their dog Kiara and turtle Sidney.

Scott Paine, Support Engineer
Scott is a 3rd generation Santa Rosa native. He is a graduate of Santa Rosa Junior College, and in 2010 completed his BS in Information Systems at Fresno State University. Scott has a passion for classic cars and conservation. His current dream project is to convert his 1964 VW Bug to use an electric motor. Scott is also a machinist and makes his own tools (including a precision CNC mill). Scott started at Wooden Spoon in February 2007 as a Help Desk technician. Upon completion of his studies in Fresno, he was promoted to Lead Support Engineer. Scott and his wife Gretchen live in Santa Rosa with their 2 dogs, 4 cats, and a parrot.
